Confiance.ai unveils the 12 innovative start-ups and SMEs that won its call for expressions of interest

These 12 Deep Tech start-ups and SMEs are joining, within a joint breakthrough innovation program, an ecosystem of around thirty large groups, SMEs and research laboratories to jointly address the challenges of intelligence. artificial intelligence (AI) for industrial applications.

On the occasion of an event organized on December 16, 2021 in the presence of its ecosystem, the collective of industrialists and academics* Confiance.ai announced the 12 start-ups and SMEs winners of the call for demonstrations of interest launched in July 2021. AI Redefined, AIvidence, AzurIA, Cervval, Datakalab, Golaem, Jolibrain, Kereval, Mydatamodels, OKTAL-SE, Quantmetry and Simsoft-Industry will join the program from January 2022. They will put their simulation, human-computer interaction, testing and explainability technologies at the service of the development of a sovereign platform for trusted AI engineering for mission-critical systems. This program is financed to the tune of €30 million by the Future Investments Program (PIA).

Confiance.ai is a unique program, in which we are proud to participate, because it is part of a truly integrative and open approach. These 12 start-ups and innovative SMEs were selected from among 44 candidates by a committee made up of representatives of the program partners based on the following criteria:

  • The quality of the offer,
  • the interest of the proposal,
  • the relevance to achieve the objectives of the program,
  • implementation constraints,
  • the resources mobilized,
  • the funding requested

Integrated within one or more of the seven projects of the program, they will have the opportunity to test and improve their technologies and to advance them on critical use cases, while contributing to the resolution of the technological locks of the program. . They will be supported by a financial investment of up to 1.2 million euros in total.

Due to the wealth of the ecosystem of start-ups and SMEs specializing in artificial intelligence and the relevance of existing technologies, the Confiance.ai collective plans to launch a second Call for Expressions of Interest in the coming months. .

The 12 start-ups and SMEs laureates of the AMI

AIR (AI-Redefined) : Based in Montreal, AIR develops Cogment, an open source software platform ( Human in the Loop Learning ). Cogment promotes continuous, real-time collaboration and learning within intelligence ecosystems that combine humans and AIs of all types.

AIvidence : Young innovative French structure dedicated to the explainability and auditability of algorithms. In confidence.ai, AIvidence will develop, using open source tools, a “regional” explanation approach, complementary to local and global approaches, in order to facilitate the development, between business experts and model designers, of explainable AI by construction.

AzurIA : With the ambition to help the planet and its occupants, this start-up, based in Sophia-Antipolis, optimizes for each of its customers an Artificial Intelligence solution, embeddable on low-power material targets, to extract as much as possible close to the sensor useful information in real time.

Cerval : Cervval uses numerical simulation by merging physical modeling, statistical learning and 3D for the creation of synthetic datasets to ensure that all cases are represented in a statistically homogeneous way, even rare ones and difficult to reproduce in reality.

Datakalab : Based in Paris, Datakalab specializes in the development of computer image analysis algorithms to measure flows in the public space. In confidence.ai, she will work on improving the performance of image processing on embedded applications. Datakalab technologies make it possible to divide by 6 on average the computing power of a neural network.

Golaem : Golaem, based in Rennes, provides solutions for populating virtual environments with digital characters to feed deep learning algorithms with behaviorally accurate synthetic data. In confidence.ai, Golaem will notably contribute to a use case in autonomous driving.

Jolibrain : Company based in Toulouse, Jolibrain offers the Open Source software product JoliGAN which allows the transformation of data between domains with controlled retention of semantics. This ensures the reliability of the models in real context, from simulated or external data.

Kereval : Based near Rennes, this SME is a software testing engineering laboratory. In particular, it develops AI verification and validation methodologies. Kereval will contribute to trust.ai with its platform for testing and verifying black-box machine learning -based systems, which enables its applicability regardless of model type.

MyDataModels : Frugal AI specialist, start-up based in Sophia Antipolis, MyDataModels has developed its own artificial intelligence technology, ZGP (Zoetrop Genetic Programming), particularly effective on small data sets (small Data). The predictive models generated are extremely light, robust and operational on all types of sensors or embedded systems. The AI developed by MyDataModels is also interpretable, understandable and transparent.

OKTAL-SE : SME based in the Toulouse region, OKTAL-SE is a software publisher for the simulation of advanced Electro-Optical and Radiofrequency sensors. Its tools have become an international reference for the development and evaluation of critical detection, guidance and navigation applications. In the program, OKTAL-SE will work on producing physically realistic synthetic sensor data suitable for learning smart algorithms.

Quantmetry : Based in Paris, Quantmetry is a benchmark consulting firm specializing in Artificial Intelligence. In the program, Quantmetry will contribute to the development of trusted AI in France by accelerating the development of methods and tools capable of measuring the uncertainty related to AI, in a systematic and transparent way (eg: the open source library MAPIE ).

voiceAI Industry : Based in Labège, the start-up is developing an intelligent Voice Assistant, called Spix. As part of confidence.ai, Simsoft proposes to develop a tooled methodology centered on SPix allowing the establishment of trust between a technician and new AI-based systems deployed at his workstation and participating in their acceptability

About Trust.ai

Led by a collective of 13 major French industrial and academic partners, Confiance.ai is the technological pillar of the Grand Challenge “to secure, certify and make systems based on artificial intelligence more reliable” .
